Safety First

At Prairie Instincts, safety is of utmost importance. Horses are live animals, which means that we are unable to 100% control what they choose to do. However, with careful understanding of horses, the program and ways to prevent accidents we are able to confidently assure you that you are safe. Some of the ways that we ensure the safety of everyone who participates ;

  • Screening and testing of all program horses before accepting them into the program as well as continual observation of their behaviors and reactions.

  • Every session will have a high ratio of volunteers/ facilitators to participants. These people are there to watch the horses body language and the actions of participants. If something is not going well, or a safety issue comes up, they will intervene and educate on what is happening.

  • Helmets are required for participants 18 years old and under.

  • In the unlikely event that something does happen, Prairie Instincts is fully insured.

Note:

  • Group sizes are usually 6-8 people per session.

  • EAL is all groundwork- meaning there is NO riding in these programs

  • Many of these groups will have pre-set times/ days to register for. But PLEASE message me if you are interested in something that you do not see a schedule for OR if that schedule does not work for you. I can customize times and/ or work around your schedule! I can also do private groups if you want to run a date night and choose who the other couples are, or if you have 5 other mom friends that you would like to do Unbridled Moms with! (just examples- I can customize any).

  • I love chatting! If anything confuses you or you can’t decide which group to register for send me a message and I will help!

Parent and Child Group

The parent and child group is a wonderful bonding activity that can enhance your relationship and improve your communication between each other. While working with horses, we will put you through a variety of obstacles that will challenge you in a fun way to be able to work together. This is a great opportunity to have dedicated time together (especially without electronics getting in the way) where you will gain trust and learn how to problem solve effectively.

Family Group

Why work individually when the whole family could benefit? We will run you through exercises to increase your effective communication and self-awareness as an individual and what you contribute to the family. These sessions will be individualized for each family and price varies depending on specifics.

Kids/ Youth Group - Ages 8+

This program will help youth gain valuable team-work skills, communication skills and more self-awareness. The horses often provide children with a huge confidence boost as they are large, non-judgmental teammates that accept leadership. Typically, these will be 6-8 week terms with 45-60 minute sessions each week.
